Oil pump pickup tube

I put in a new oil pump and am going to reuse the old pickup tube. It fits in the new pump fine just not as snug as it was in old one. It will not stay up right. Is this normal or is there a way to get it to stick in firmly?

Here's another vote for a tack weld to hold it on.

Find a friend that does, or stop by a machine shop...they should be able to do it in about 5 seconds and not charge you much if anything...

One reason to get a new pickup.

I'd check/compare the hole size of previous and present pickup tube hole in covers, to verify new pump does not have a larger hole. Pointless to get a new tube of the same diameter.
