oil pressure sensor replacement
oil pressure sensor replacement
I've been getting kind of a low reading from my oil pressure gauge so I am planning on replacing the sender unit. I was wondering how are you supposed to get the thing off of the intake manifold. I can't figure out how to fit a wrench back there. Thanks.
BTW, did a search.

Re: oil pressure sensor replacement
I realize what the sensor is, but I only need to replace the plastic part with the metal screw-in tip that going into the elbow here. I can't seem to figure out though how to loosen the sensor where it screws in. Its in there pretty tight. Anyone?
Re: oil pressure sensor replacement
It's nearly impossible to get a wrench back there on it. Take one of them little rubber mit thingy's for opening jars and stuff, grab onto it, and twist as hard as you can. Thats how I had to replace mine. No leaks, works fine ...
My car didnt even have the sensor in it when i got it ( Bought totalled ) and since you cant exactly see it, i didnt notice it until almost the very end of putting it back together when I had a connector on the wiring harness goin to the middle of nowhere ...

Re: oil pressure sensor replacement
thanks for the help, I thought it might be one of those elbow grease things, but I was wondering if that was it for sure. Doesn't help to be left handed tho...
Re: oil pressure sensor replacement
I don't know anything about the sensor being two pieces. It might be if it was broken.
Use an oil pressure sensor socket (special socket with rounded shoulders) and aim from the direction of the brake booster along the firewall. If you need to change the up/down angle the sensor is pointing, so you can get your socket/ratchet on it, it will usually move if you give it a nudge.
