Oil pressure problems

I have had this problem for a little while now and thought I had it figured out but now Im stumped. When making a sudden stop, I will lose all oil pressure but the pressure will shoot right back up when everything "settles" back to normal. I dropped the oil pan a lil while back and sure enough, the pick-up tube had fallen out so I had it welded back in. Even now, it still does the same thing. I have hit the bottom of the pan with both my fist and a rubber mallet and stuck a hanger in the oil drail hole to see it the pickup tube had somehow dislodged itself but as far as I can tell, its still in its proper location. I changed the oil today and checked the level and its good. The car has 135k hard miles on it(not all my fault) so Im using 20w-50 weight oil so pressure is fine at idle and cruising but drops when slowing/stopping. What else could be the problem? Thanks guys.

Re: Oil pressure problems

DId you weld it on the right angle? Sounds to me like you put it to high up..

Re: Oil pressure problems

I might have but I did exactly what I was told by multiple other respectable board members. I put a piece of cardboard in the bottom of the pan and bolted it in place. They said when I took the pan back down, the tube should be pointed in the proper direction/angle. Does anyone know the correct angle of the stock pick-up tube?
