going to be ordering a 58 mm throttle body, i've been looking at the bbk and the edelbrock, which one is better?

i know you have to dremel out the 2 holes on the front of the intake, but will the factory elbow fit a larger throttle body?

 

the factory elbow fits a 58mm throttle body just fine. i have used several BBK/Edelbrock 58mm throttle bodies before and had no issues with them. the older models will whistle unless you grind away the casting flash in the IAC passage. the newer models dont have that problem. i have heard pretty poor things on the quality of the Holley throttle bodies, but have not actually used one myself to comment on that. AS&M throttle bodies have excellent quality, but you pay for it.

 

I had a bbk 58mm on my old Formula and didn't have any toruble from it.

The factory elbow will fit without a problem.

 

formula, how much do you weigh and what if any mods do you have done to your Gixxer? i was running a 135lb guy on a 01 gsxr 1000 a while back with a pipe, filter, and computer and was pulling on him pretty good everytime, im curious what kind of MPH he would probably trap at

 

What were you running against him?

My bike only has a slip on Yosh Tri Oval pipe, and is lowered and strapped. I have a Yosh computer programmer but haven't programmed it yet. I weigh 140.

 

i was in my 94 Z28 a couple months ago on its old combo (no nitrous etc). he has a Yosh slip on, the same Yosh programmer, and a K&N. i was figuring he should trap around 140, sounds like thats probably about right after seeing your times and weight. i have a bike too, but its just a little 03 600rr with a pipe, dynojet programmer, down 1 tooth in front, and the usual body mods etc

 

What kind of times does your car run?

 

dont know, local tracks wont let me make a pass, thats why i was wondering what the gixxer would trap at. at the time i was probably making ~675-700rwhp. i was supposed to race him last year with my 95 formula that was running 9.6s @ 143 but that never ended up happeneing
