Oil Pressure low after CAM install

i finally got everything straightened out with my car, but now i have a new problem. i was about 15 minutes away from my house, and i noticed the oil pressure dropping. it would always idle at roughly 30psi, but i noticed it was a little lower. it went down to 20 at idle, then 15 after a few more minutes, and slowly going down at idle until i finally pulled into my driveway when the gauge dropped all the way down! first thought- spun bearing. but wouldnt this have happened all of a sudden, not slowly after 15 minutes? oil is leaking a little bit out the back of the oil pan (just changed the gasket, but we all know they are a PITA). could that equate to my low oil pressure? thanks in advance

An oil leak does not cause low oil pressure (unless there is not enough oil left to pump).

Sorry to be the one to tell you this but it's probably a spun bearing. Can you here a knocking/rattle reving it up between 1500-2000 RPM? I drove mine for 2 hrs and it jst died on me=no oil pressure

no knocking/rattling or any abnormal noise. i just went out to check it again, and it seemed to idle fine with good oil pressure maybe its just the sensor?

Maybe engine got hotter than normal, which will cause lower pressure + if thats not the case, BAD CAM Bearings will cause lower pressure, sure you didnt scar one installing it or were they high mileage bearings? Should replace them with the cam.

it overheated the day before pretty bad- could that have anything to do with it? also- the oil seems very very thin. im gonna change it for some heavier oil.

How old is the oil? I would check it for any bits of metal or debris if you could, that would be a better indicator of damage.

Yep, I spun mine not 400 miles after the cam swap. Low oil pressure was the first sign and it was all downhill from there.
