Oil pressure gauge is not working properly...any help?

I replaced my gauges with white faces about 3 months ago and ever since the oill pressure gauge doesnt read correctly. After i shut the car off it normally would go to zero, now it stays around 5psi...when i drive the car its at 7, and if i rev it up real fast it goes up to about 10....what the hell? I even took the face off and it still was messed up thinking it (the needle) was touching the white face so my questions are
1: any ideas what may be wrong with this thing?
2: How hard is it to wire up another oil pressure gauge from autometer? What is involved?

Thanks!

Jon

the stock gauge is electrical. Get a mechnaical one. There is a plug right above the oil filter you can use to tap into. then route wires into the passenger cabin and mount it.
