Re: Oil pressure drops at WOT

but this makes me wonder if im going to starve the engine?

kinda like a motorcycle, when u pop a wheely, the oil doesnt go into the engine, gets stuck in the back of the pan!

Mine: Stock melling pump, Canton pan, canton pickup (bolts to pump), extra baffle between pump/pickup. I have 60psi @ wot all the time. This is with the stock 60psi spring.

Friends: Aftermarket stock size pan, melling SV pump, oil pressure drops at WOT.

Same bottom ends, almost identical motor builds. Machine work done by the same builder.

Re: Oil pressure drops at WOT

Ive been fighting this for months too.

383, milodon 7 QT pan with windage trey, HV pump

Changed between like 5 different weights of oil, and many different filters. The Wix racing (1060R) helped alot, and I thought I had the issue fixed. My car didnt have a bypass valve on it.

Fast forward to new SR cam, and the problem comes up again. I was using brand new Wix Racing filter. I also tried reinstalling the bypass valve. Still reverse oil pressure up top.

Next week I will re-clearance the pump and install a rear pan baffle. Will update everyone.

Never know until you try.

The Wix filter I mentioned above is available from NAPA. Its about $13 and is a 1qt. If your car is oil cooler equipped, it will need to be removed.

Speaking of oil coolers, if any of you have one, try taking it off too. Back in the day i gained a ton of pressure by removing it

Re: Oil pressure drops at WOT

You can just unscrew the old filter, fill the filter with fresh oil, and screw it on again.

Re: Oil pressure drops at WOT

The oil cooler mounts above the oil filter and has coolant lines running to it.
