Unhappy Oil Pressure Drops on hole shots.........?

O.K. The last couple of times I have driven the car, when I do a WOT hole shot to light up the tires, my Oil pressure goes up then drops to about 25psi. However if I sit there & rev the motor to 6000 rpms in my driveway, the Oil Pressure reads a steady 50 - 55 PSI.. Also I had the car up tp about 110 in "D" which had the RPM's up around 6000 & the OP was still around 50PSI. The oil pressure is only dropping while launching the car. Could this have something to do with the load the car is under trying to move the 3600 #'s forward? Or could it be something minor like an eletrical or sending unit problem? Give me all possible causes, good or bad. I know I am probably expieriencing some blow by. And my valve seals may be bad.

Any input would be great.
Thanks

Anyone??? I just took the car out for some power shots & it is still doing this..... This time it even dropped 0 for a second until I rev'd the gas again & it bounced back up....... I am gonna call autometer & have them send me another sending unit cause this just seems like an electrical issue.....(I hope ) Sure can use some more insight into this if anyone has any...
Thanks again

LT1's are kinda notorious for pumping the heads full of oil. On a hard launch, the oil in the heads goes to the back, where it has less holes to drain back into the pan. At a stop the oil can return to the pan through all the return passages in the heads, but on a hard launch it has roughly half the return passages. See what I mean?

Port the oil retun passages in the heads, or run an extra 1/2 quart of oil.

holding it at 6,000 RPMs with no load on the engine? why? you're gonna spin a bearing

You may want to drop your pan and make sure the oil pickup didnt come off or is loose.

I think you hit the nail on the head....I had an older 350, in my '77 Camaro that dropped the pump screen off, and it did that exact same thing.....

Sounds to me like the oil could be climbing the back of the pan due to high g forces during launch. Might be a good idea to run a windage pan or modify the oiling system for better drainback.

This is a typical problem with the LT1, drainback can be a issue and cavitating the oil pump becuase of the very, very pourly desgned oil pan is another. Running a half a quart of oil can help, also try going to a heavier weight, dino oil instead of sythetic.

Best fix is go to a canton or Moroso pan.
