oil pressure drop during braking

i am having a problem with my oil pressure gauge. It seems as though everytime i slow down to a stop....my oil pressure gauge drops to zero but then goes back up to normal after the car rocks back. does anyone know what could be causing this reading? also...what should an lt-1 engine be reading as far as oil pressure (what is normal)?

1: stop driving your car before your engine blows up (ask me how i know that one)

2: Get your oil pump pickup tube and screen pressed back into your oil pump, and have it tack welded or brazed on there so it wont come off again

what do you think it means though...because i thought it might have been just a faulty sensor

It takes a LOT less time to drop the oil pan than it does to tear out the motor and rebuild it!

You can pull the oil-level-sensor and inspect it, but you probably wont be able to tell if it's bad without replacing it.

Word of advice... ALWAYS assume it's NOT a sensor... better to be safe than sorry!

I just put a new pump in mine this weekend, because it was doing the same thing. Sure enough, the pick up tube was laying in the f***ing pan.

The way I checked mine was I drained all of the oil from the pan and hit the bottom of the pan with a rubber mallet and I heard something rattling around in there. Guess what it was, my pick-up tube. Good luck.
