oil pressure always high

my oil pressure gauge is always showing above max pressure on the gauge, it only goes down before i turn the engine on!

yesterday i disconnected the cable from the sender unit and it still shows max pressure..

is the problem from the gauge itself? is there a way to fix it?

have a 97 Camaro with LT1 engine

Break in the signal wire somewhere.

What speedy said is correct, which should give you a pretty good indication on where to start.

Re: oil pressure always high

If you unplug it with the engine off key on and the gauge maxes out it's the sending unit.

If it's plugged in and maxes out and when it's not plugged in it maxes out, wouldn't that indicate the wire is not making connection?????????

Re: oil pressure always high

Grounding the signal wire should yield zero on the gauge. If it doesn't zero out it's the wiring. If it does it's the sender......

Simple as that
