Ive noticed recently that when I do my daily driving that my oil pressure goes down a little above red at idle, but when I first start the car its around half way and of course when I hit the gas it rises.. just wondering if its normal for the oil pressure to go that low during idle.

 

I've been told that 5psi at idle is acceptable, though mine never falls below the first mark at idle. What weight oil are you using? 5w-30?

The pump could be on its way out the door, or the gauge could be inacurate. Lots of variables, what brand oil filter also?

 

Mine seemed low when I was using 5w30 regular oil, then my mechanic told me to try Mobil 1 , he said to use 15w50 now I have more oil pressure. I run it year round even in winter, since its synthetic it flows faster even when it is really cold out.
