is this normal? i just rebuilt a 355 LT1.. broke it in with 10w40.. now it has 1000 miles and just used Mobil 1 5w30.. just seems kinda low.. what is everyone else's pressure at idle??

mine at about 900 rpms sits on 20psi

 

I just put Mobil 1 5W30 and a K&N filter on having just reached the first 500 miles on a new short block (broken in with dino oil).

Before the change, I was seeing around 40 at idle and between 40 and 60 at cruise.

Now I am seeing around 25-30 at idle and it goes up over 40 when RPM goes up.

Appears that the Synthetic oil and high perf. oil filter has an affects pressure, however I don't have a clue as to what a proper reading is supposed to be.

Just understand that the sensor is supposed to read between 15 and 80 OHMs.

with 850rpm at idle it's about 20psi, but it moves up to 40-50 under gas..

the thinner the oil, the less pressure you will see. Also synthetics have a tendency for you to see less pressure.

 

Mine is about 20 psi at idle when hot. Goes to 55 psi at WOT. I'm using 10w30 Royal Purple.
