oil pick up tube info.

Just for information....

I've had 2 oil pump pick up tubes fall out of the oil pump, and I've talked to several people and they all say the same thing:

WELD IT!

Even my machinist got on to me because I didn't do this!

I guess I was the only one to not know this little bit of valueable information, so I'm refreshing memories to yall. Don't let your cams shake yours off.

I wish I would have thought of that, because I just hammered mine on. It sure was hard to get it off the old pump though.

yeah, that was the way I put my first and second one's on, and they came off.

Maybe just my luck though.

Why didn't you just use the old pickup and bottom plate off the old pump?

The engine had spun bearings before, so I didn't use any parts that I didn't have to. I bought a new oil pump and pickup tube.

I just had mine welded and I don't think that I will shake this one off.

Everyone that I talk to (2 new people this week) welds their oil pump pick up tube to the oil pump, so that will be something that I do from now on.

Later

I'll weld a brkt. to the tube, which is bolted to the pump cover, B4 I'd weld in the tube. BTDT, to me, better injuneering logic in my book.
