Oil on pass side valve cover?

I have noticed lately that my pass side valve cover has what appears to be oil spray on it from an unknown source. I noticed it while autox'ing about a month or 2 ago. After my first run I smelled oil and smoke, opened the hood to find oil on top of the pass side valve cover and on the exhaust manifold (reason for the smoke). I wiped it all completely down and made another run to find it on the valve cover again, closer to the exhaust side, and none within an inch of the breather tube or fill tube. Where could it possibly be coming from? Could the valve covers be leaking not at the gasket, but possibly from a hole or leak in the cover itself? Where to look, or should I just pull it and check?

Mine leaks @ the filler neck, always has. I end up with a small puddle on top after a few months. Same thing?

No, I wiped the whole valve cover down before the run, then came back to the pit and had oil on the middle front towards the exhaust manifold, but none near the filler neck or the PCV tube.
