Oil Pan problem. Need help.

Well, I cracked my oil pan last night and oil pissed out everywhere. I am about to do heads and Jet Hot LT's, but now I'll have to do oil pan as well. I might get the Canton oil pan or stock replacement. Is it possible to get the stock oil pan out without pulling the motor. Also, are there any fit problems with the Canton pan that anyone knows of? Need advice on this. Is this gonna be a disasterous job?

you can take the stock one off by just pulling the starter and jacking the motor up a few inches and fiddling around

Thanks Trey.

Anyone know of any fit problems with the canton oil pan with an M6 tranny, or LT's, or any other possibile problem.

May want to call nutek or cmotorsports. One of those companies sells the canton pan with modifcations to fit the LT1 better.

Jeff, thanks for the heads up on Nu-tek. Their pan is modified for Hooker longtubes and they sell a pretty good kit. How hard is it to replace the pickup and oil pump?

It was a tight fit with the Hookers and the TPIS headers. Its not that big of a deal, just tight working quarters. You have to do the pickup when you do the pan if I recall. It is a piece of cake to do it while the pan is off.

Cool. What about the actual pump. Is that tough to get at?

Its not a bad idea but isn't big deal if you don't. I would just becuase I am down there but its quite rare that the oil pump will just fail by it self.
