How long does it take to swap out the oil pan gasket and what parts do I have to remove to get to it? I have an oil leak where the gasket is in between the oil pan and front cover. Thanks.

 

From what I've heard, you have to take the motor mounts loose and raise the engine up. Then, drop the pan down (it will only come down like a couple of inches at most) then put the gasket on. I think you have to cut the gasket. I'm not sure though.

 

I tore my gasket taking the timing cover off during my cam swap. I replaced it with a felpro and did not have to do anything but drop the pan. It will only drop an inch or so but it's enough to install it. You will need to use a wrench and a racket to get to all the bolts. I also had my headers, starter, and oil filter off btw. I do not know if they would interfer or not with them on. I placed a rag over the steering rack so as not to get dirt on the gasket.

As stated above, just drop the pan and you can fish it under. Not fun, and it's hard to keep everything clean, but definately doable w/o messin with engine mounts or anything else. Also once did it with my cam swap - that's a good time to do it cause you need to drop the pan to get the timing cover off.
