Oil Pan?

Hey. I was wondering if anyone here has had experiences with a aftermarket oil pan for a LT1. I have a new LT1 in my car and I read in a 1999 Super Chevy that a aftermarket oil pan will help the engine live longer and help the effiency of the engine. All of this hypathetically would help the engine use all of the power that it had. At least that's what they said. My question is: (1) Is this practical for a mostly stock LT1 that sees the track 5 or 6 times a year? (2) If so, what is the best pan to buy (3) Is there anything that I can do to the stock pan to make it more efficient? Windage trays, high volume oil pump, etc? Basically my car has hardly any oil pressure at idle and I want to make sure that my new motor has a long and healthy life. Any opinions are appreciated and thanks in advance

Forget about the idea. There are no gains to be had on a stock motor. You buy different oil pans for stroker clearance issues, and certain types of racing.

two things, a high volume pump will help, but wont correct the oil press.dilemma. a high press. pump will help w/that. typically, a high volume pump will also be high press, but not always.

and about the pan, they are only effective for high rpm eng.s or certain types of racing. either drag race pan or roundy round pan. but neither will help you at all at idle or normal street driving.
