Thanks Thomas!

Well in case anyone ever does a search on this topic I had to pull off the drivers side exhaust from the manifold to the y pipe in order to change this sensor so be prepared to do that.

my car stock 96 lt1 stock exhaust.

Why did you go and do that? I think you definitely did the swap the hardest way possible. But atleast you have it fixed. You should be able to maneuver enough to pull the sensor and replace it.

Edit: Yikes I was thinking the pressure sending unit. Thats the hard one. Did you replace this one

Or this one

I replaced the first one the low oil sensor. but on my car a 96 there is a different exhaust because I could not get mine out without pulling the exhaust off.

Unless you dont ever check your oil, just eliminate it. Not like you cant see you oil pressure....useless hole in the pan IMO

There a little more to it then that Don't the PCM's kill the ignition when oil levels are too low. I know my 88 did. Biggest pain in my *** figuring out what was up with that. Plus he'll have to plug the hole with something. I would have done the same thing and just replaced it.

Re: oil level sensor

Actually it doesn't kill the ignition. It's just a light on the dash. You don't neccesarily have to plug it, just unplug the sensor wire from the actual sensor and just leave it in there and it will take up the hole by itself, the trick is to get the damn LOW OIL light to turn off on your dash.
