Oil leaks *PICS*

Hey all what do you make of these 2 pics?

This is of front of the motor, where is the oil coming from?

http://www.webideas.net/misc%20art/fronttiming.gif

This is from back of the motor with the flywheel, etc.. off, rear main seal was done 6k ago, and does it look like oil pan is leaking?

http://www.webideas.net/misc%20art/rearmain.gif

tell me what u think.

How many miles on your car? I think just about everyones LT1 leaks oil in the front by the timing cover. Mine does , but not enough to leave any oil on the floor. I dont worry about it I wipe it down every 4-6 months. But I have no oil oil leaks or burning.

Easy fix: Opti and front main seals that are pressed in the timing cover.

harder fix: Oil pan gasket.

Its VERY likely one of those 3 seals.

Its probably a seal on the timing chain cover, chances are its the WP seal.

I looked at the pics, cant tell exactly where it is.Has to be either the crank seal, opti seal,or water pump drive seal. All i can say is get all those seals and replace them.

thanks for input all, the 2nd pic is the rear of the motor with the trans, etc.. out. Oil pan looks moist, the rear main seal was done 6k miles ago, does it look moist enough that its leaking? The car has 103k miles on it. Oil pan it a PITA, i know. I am starting to think now, that its NOT my rear intake manifold.

My guess would be that the oil is leaking right at the corner of your oil pan, next to the rear main seal. Chevrolets are notorious for leaking there if precaution isn't taken while putting the oil pan on. Gotta make sure to pull that corner down real good when bolting the pan down.

There looks to be NOTHING wrong with the rear main seal, why is it moist with oil? It was done 6k ago, is there a speical way to remove it/install it? Post away, i wll replace this one and somehow get the pan down.

Keep in mind, it is easy for a leak at the front of the engine to migrate toward the rear because of air flow. The only way I find to pinpoint leaks is to thoroughly clean the area, drive it and recheck the locations.

I can tell just by looking at your rear main that it's dry, that isn't your problem.
