is this oil leaking? pics inside

so while my car was up on the lift today getting a new cat, i noticed this "oil" leaking near the rear axle, the guy said it could be a broken seal?? what do you guys think.

pinion seal is toast. very common problem. It'd be a good idea to make sure your drive shaft isn't bent. Do you have any vibration at certain speeds? That can shorten the life of a pinion seal dramatically.
