oil leaking between head and block
oil leaking between head and block
I have a lt1 turbo. I blew the head gaskets and just replaced them, went to the track and they detected coolant. I got the car home and did a pressure test on the cooling system and the head is leaking coolant right next to the front head bolt on cylinder #2 I put dye in the motor and oil is dripping from the same spot. I used felpro 1074 with the flattened copper wire recommended for this motor. I have ordered a new gasket for this side. Any suggestions of what the problem is. This is a 94 Camaro and it is a time consuming project to change a gasket. I used head studs could one of the studs allow oil and water to pass the head? It runs fine and no water in the oil and I am getting a very small drip of water and oil.

A lot of people seem to have trouble getting studs to seal. Some people swear by the Ford/Motorcraft TA-29 sealant or other stuff. Others give up and go back to bolts. It just depends on who you talk to.
Though oil is not under pressure, I have seen oil migrate along a bolt and seep out between the head and block.
maybe the oil is getting sucked from the boost and pushed out once it gets to the blown seal. or weak spot in the gasket. I use to run RTV or Liquid teflon on head studs and everyonce and a while no matter what we did it would leak. I bet your pushing over 12psi of boost.
