oil leak please help
oil leak please help
I have a pretty bad leak. on my Lt1 whats a common place these t hings leak after 150k or so?? been told intake manifold and valve covers. hope its not a main seal or head gasket. any info would be helpful thanks
It's very hard for use to tell if we don't even know the general area where it's leaking from. Off the top of my head, I can think of the rear of the intake and the oil pan are probably the most common leaks. The rear main, valve covers and timing cover are all possibilities with that many miles.
when i got under it, looked like some was dripping down from the y pipe. oil pan looked like it had something dripping down too also, but it was so greasy n oily under there. but on the ground looks like its coming from different spots maybe
If the rear intake is leaking, it can very well drip down all over the rest of the motor letting it appear that other things are leaking which aren't. I would clean it up really well, then drive it around, and go from there.
You need to open the hood and reach to the back of the motor, where the intake manifold meets the block...and see if there is oil there. I'd almost put money on it being the rear intake seal.
Its very very rare to have big rear main leaks on any 1-pc rear seal block IMO.

i thought i just had a intake leak, well i fixed that and saw that it was still dripping from somewhere, so i resealed my rear end, still leaking so now i have to take my oil pan off thats the only spot left for it to leak. i will stay posted.
