Oil leak...please help

I recently bought a 94 Z28 with 50k on it. The guy told me that it had a small oil leak that could be easily fixed. Could someone tell me where to start to look?? I looked under the car and it seems to be coming from above the oil pan. Is there a gasket I could check? i am looking to see if anyone else had a problem that was similar and might save me some time. Thank you.

These are very hard to diagnose over the internet...If its more towards the rear of the car above the oil pan its probably the intake seal at the back of the intake which is very common, but it could be valve covers, etc, etc...I would go under the car with brake cleaner or an equivalent product and clean off everything as best as you can, run it and see what you see. You can also get some dye that you put in the oil which shows up with a black light which works very well...The shop I use uses the dye...

The intake is notorious for leaking on LT1 cars. I'd start my search there.

Where is it leaking from? The timing cover? I had a really tricky leak once, and I finally figured out the water pump geardrive's bearings had worn out, causing the shaft to wobble (ever so slightly) enough to slowly (over a course of 3 months) destroy the seal surrounding the shaft. Popped it off, got a new assembly, pressed it in, assembled everything and wha-la! No more oil leaks...

I had a leak coming from my rear main seal. The drip was one inch behind the front of the tranny pan on the floor.
