Oil leak on new engine.wtf!
When i took my car down to the dyno the other week it had a healthy drip of oil under it, as far as i can tell it seemed to be coming from the rear of the engine and was dripping off the front of the bellhousing. This is a brand new engine though, with less than 1000 miles on it, could a rear main seal wear out that fast!? or maybe its an oil pan leak? i cant really tell where its coming from, is there any know leaking areas for the LT1 or does anyone have any ideas. What should i have broke the engine in on? was 10w 30 ok? (petroleum based)
On a brand new motor my guess would be the infamous intake manifold leak. If the shop that assembled everything didn't put enough of an RTV bead on the back side, it could very easily be leaking.
