Oil Leak Help.

I have an oil leak it seems to be located right around the Opti spark case. Last weekend I had to replace the waterpump cause it died. The engine did get hot real hot twice. but I don't know if that was the cause of the leak. It did start to leak shortly after that. but now I need to figure out the possible options. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

No one can tell you over the internet where your oil leak is. You need to clean things up, so you can detect the source of the leak. You will then know exactly where to concentrate your efforts.

Ok im sorry I wasn't very clear when I was looking under there it seemed to be coming from my optispark case. so what I meant to ask is- Does the opti have any seal that could leak oil? the problem Im having is it is leaking around the crank balancer so it hits the balancer and sprays everywhere.

there are three seals on the timing cover that can leak. there is one where the hub goes in, one where the optispark goes in, and one where the water pump goes in.

As you can see, there are several seals it could be coming from, so that is why I said to clean it up as best you can to be able to tell the exact location. Sorry, I did not mean to come off like a smarty pants.

No Offense taken see the problem is I was of course in the garage last night and so of course I had a few beers so what made sense to me when I posted it. But it made no sense to anyone else. It was my bad.

when you say where the pump goes into the timing cover do you mean the spot where the drive shaft goes in? the reason I ask is I did not change the o ring on the drive shaft when I put the pump on.

I guess my best recourse is to maybe take the pump back off and do it the right way now that I am at home with my tools.

Another question if the splines on the waterpump drive shaft were not lined up right would it mnake a different sound or clacking or something???
