Oil leak after change to synthetic oil

194,000 miles on the engine. Always leaks a small amount. Changed to synthetic about 3 days ago without thinking about any drawbacks. Now it leaks alot. I'd say a quart in 3 days (a couple hundred miles or so).

What is your opinion, cut my losses and go back to conventional oil? Or with time will the synthetic reseal where the old seals are apparently leaking?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Switching to a synthetic is not going to cause a leak, like you said you had the leak before. Just find out where it's coming from and fix it.

Switching to synthetic oils does NOT cause oil leaks. The detergents in them clean gunk out of your engine and exposes the leaks...

You'll have to fix it...nothing is going to reseal.

Re: Oil leak after change to synthetic oil

Thank you both for the replies. Not the answers I wanted to hear, but at least I know what to do. I believe the primary leak is the usual intake manifold gasket in the rear. I have practice doing it so it wouldn't take long.
