oil leak

Hey Members, I have a very slight oil leak at the front crank snout seal. A felpro seal was installed about 6 months ago. At idle everything is bone dry.
After a short drive I notice a small weepage of oil. I know the front pan seal is not the problem. Is there any chemical fix for such a leak. I really do not want to have to pull the snout if possible.

Re: oil leak

I used this stuff to stop a rear seal leak on my LS1 engine about a year ago. It's leaks about 90% less now. They claim it works on front seals too.

Re: oil leak

rare the crank seal leaks. more typical is WP drive seal. The oil drips/migrates down to the lowest point and can appear to be coming from crank seal

are you sure it is your front crank seal leaking?

Re: oil leak

As stated, the leak may be originating much higher than the crank seal. Try using oil/fuel/ATF dye in your oil, run engine to operating temperature, then with engine off inspect using UV light and glasses. That should localize the highest point of the leak.
I've used this in the past and it proved valuable.

Typically it's the WP drive seal that leaks.
