ok guys here it is ... i have a 97 z28 30thyr.. i have a oil leak comming from the front end of the motor.. i had it looked at and found out that its the oil pan gasket leaking.. kinda new at working on cars but love my z.. could anyone tell me how big of a job this is to do and what surprises i my find as im doing this job??? thanks for all your help this site rocks

First thing to do is the easy thing. A GOOD mechanic will tell you that most oil leaks come from an improperly operating PCV system. The other thing that you could try is high mileage oil to swell up flexible seals and gaskets.

i had to replace mine and wow.. it was a two week project for us, we had to take everything off the front of the motor and then take the motor mounts off and lift the engine like your going to pull it from the top, just to get the pan off, i have no idea if theres an easier way, but thats how we did it, i have a 96 6 speed, if i had to do it again i would let th shop do it, and pay them, no matter what the price. lol
