Oil Leak...

Just wondering if you guys can give me some opinions. I have an oil leak which has basically contributed to the deaths of two opti sparks over the past two years. I am replacing the opti again and the other opti which was one year and one week old was covered in oil as well as the under side of my waterpump, my plug wires, and it was mainly on the driver side of the engine. Seems as though its being spun out somewhere, Question is, where could it come from....the car is a 94 and there is no oil on the hood so its limited as to where it is going...any ideas? I refuse to put this car back together until the oil leak is fixed...THANKS

Re: Oil Leak...

Go to your local auto store and get some dye to add in the oil; run it and hit it with a black light and it will reveal itself. Check the front corners of your intake and the seals for the water pump and distributor; they are nitorious for leaking. Hope this helps.

Re: Oil Leak...

Since you're taking the opti off, do the following because you're right there:

Water Pump Drive Seal (top seal in the timing cover)
Opti Seal (middle hole in the timing cover)
Crank Seal (bottom hole in the timing cover)
None of these are difficult to replace and the timing cover can stay on the car.

Don't forget to use new O-Rings on the opti shaft.

If that doesn't get it (which it should if it's spraying on to the bottom of the WP), then it's the timing cover or front of the pan.
