Oil leak

Well i have nice oil leak in the back.
1. only seems to leak after car has been running.
2. Just installed cam and as far as i can tell its not the valve covers/intake manifold
3. Leaked a lil before the cam install now its more
4. Leaves a puddle about the size of a cd
5. Back of the motor.

If its the rear main seal, how much am i lookin at for labor? I dont have the necessary tools/knowledge to drop a tranny.

Assuming it is the rear main seal, prolly around $700 for labor easy.

If you just installed a cam, trust me, you can take out a tranny.

Are you sure it isn't the intake though?
You can pop the inspection plate in the bellhousing and check out if it is really oily in there. I would think that the person who installed the cam may not have used enough rtv on the intake or maybe reused the old gaskets?

nope, new gaskets. Since it didnt leak in the driveway im thinking the rtv blew out on the drive home. What kind of damage can an intake leak cause?

well if it is the intake oil leak it will prolly fry your clutch from oil getting in the bellhousing. I just fixed it two weeks ago. Its a pita but is not hard at all. just remove all the vacume lines and electrical conections and yank the intake. Put a bunch of rvt on the ends with new gaskets and slap it all back together.

Dont forget to let the RTV cure about 12 hours before you even start the car!
This may heve been your problem.

well i looked at it and i think it is in fact the intake manifold leaking. ran my hand back there and got fresh oil on my hand. My clutch still feels fine however. Is it certain that i will fry my clutch?

If oil gets on the clutch, you can kiss it goodbye. Perhaps you did not wait for the RTV to cure as someone else suggested? It will be a matter of pulling the intake back off and resealing it.
