Oil leak

I took a trip to austin this weekend (about 300 miles) and i had some problems on the way up there. I had an oil leak coming from my exhaust, near the tips of the headers, between the cats and the tips of the headers. I also had a Check Engine light come on for the majority of the trip. I stopped at an AutoZone to get my engine codes checked and he said the problem code was for an air conditioner problem, most likely running low on freon. (why that would require me pissing my pants thinking the camaro was dead is beyond me) Anyways, the oil is all over the exhaust pipe and it was burning on the exhaust pipe. I just got my oil changed about a month ago with Mobil 1 5w-30, and they should have changed the oil filter but im wondering if i have an oil backup or a hose leak or a gasket leak or possibly a drain screw leak.

If this isnt specific enough i can possibly find a camera and take a picture of the oil on the exhaust. I have fairly high oil pressure at ignition, and the pressure takes a while to subside. Any ideas before I: (picture in link below)

A. Buy a truck
B. Trash the engine and get a crate engine or
C. **** and moan and continue paying for minor problems and overpriced mechanics.

First of all, these car are like that, you need to have some patiens with them.

Second, You are going to have to get under there and check where the leak is coming from. In these cars it is mostly the vlave covers or the back of the intake manifold or the rear of the oil pan. If that oil change you just got was the first tim you put sythetic in it, then that is likly the reason for the leaks (sythetic expanse previous leaks in the system).

Now that I looked at you picture it is possible that the oil filter of drain plug could be loose, since the oil is only on the drivers side.

Ditto. Check your oil filter, it just might be loose or the seal is bad on it maybe.

to add to the story, my dipstick pipe...the actual hollow pole that goes to the oil is loose and im not sure why. also, its kinda stupid that if i took this to a place to get the oil changed that they wouldnt put the filter on properly. this isnt the first time its had synthetic oil. it had Mobil 1 10w-30 last time. at the shop they said it had a seal leak. I was somewhat concerned about that but until a week ago there was no leaking from any seals so i think he was smoking crack.

clean underneath the car, if its leaking that bad you will see where its coming from, rear intake leaks and rear main leaks are common in these cars, i just did my intake and still have a little leak somewhere, thinking its the rear main and the sad thing about it is the car started leaking with only 17k on it you would think gm would have a recall on at least the faulty intakes

if it costs money and doesnt involve people's lives GM will never open their pocketbook or admit to any faulty parts.

only complaints about this car is that oil leak, low amp alternator (which they boosted to 140 the next year), the window motors are kinda crap, and my aftermarket exhaust although out of the hands of GM is still a problem. The exhaust sounds good most of the time but occasionally there is a popping sound almost like glass coming from the underside of the driver side catylic converter area. I dunno if i have a busted cat but it doesnt make this sound all the time. I dont suppose it matters since im buying a Corsa exhaust this summer. Oh yea and occasionally (mostly while backing up) I will randomly hear something pop and the brakes become stiff and the low trac light comes on. This low traction comes on in dry and wet weather. It's not like im accelerating in the water. It just pops, lose auto brakes for about 10 seconds then something catches and the brakes work again. Lord knows what that is but its not going to kill me so it's not real high on the priority list.

Just a note, but synthetic oil doens't expand a current leak. Synthetic oil is thinner than dyno oil, and thus will find/leak more than the real stuff.
