Oil galley plugs

Oil galley plugs
The 2 plugs on the front with the pin holes in them. Is this the correct part #, 10110897.
Just found out the machine shop installed regular plugs with no holes.
Would it be ok without them? It had been running for a little over 10k like this.

Re: Oil galley plugs
I chose to use the ones with the small holes. GM design intent was the holes allow air bleed off from the oil galleries and do dribble oil into timing chain. It is debatable if they are really needed but I chose to follow the design intent of the LT1 platform
Your 10k mi use would indicate they are not critical. They are a odd size and tapered so you need to get them from GM.
I would think drilling solid ones would also replicate the pre-drilled soft plugs
LT1, gen 2, does have some differences over the Gen 1 SBC and some old school builders can over look some of these differences. There is also a round ball that goes in the oil galley. Ideally it was punched out with a drift for block cleaning and put back in on assembly. It goes in the hole under the rear main cap, DS, adjacent to the oil filter boss.
