Oil Filter question

A few months back I put some FLP longtubes on my car. I really dont like too much about them but that is a different story.
Anyway, the collector sits right under my oil filter and IMHO it is too hot to be there. I have been changing my oil about ever 1500 miles with Mobil 1 because I am so worried. Should I be worried? If so what can I do? (Make a heat sheild of some sort?) The collector is close enough to the filter that I can not run the long filter. (maybe 3 inches) Should I be running a high temp oil filter?

Does anyone else see this as a problem?

Damn 1500 miles on mobil1?!?! You must be rich! I wouldn't think its too much to worry about, look at all the people with FLP headers, i nver hear of any problems.

I don't understand why you can't use the longer filters if you have 3 inches of clearance since the longer filter is only about an inch longer. I've never heard of a high temp oil filter, but from your description a heat shield sounds like a good idea. Assuming you have the factory oil cooler I would expect you will be okay as far as oil temps, but a heat shield can only help IMO.

Winner- I hardly drive my car. I have only changed the oil twice in 8 months. Once when I put the headers on because I had to remove the oil cooler.

Bud- I had to take the oil cooler off to get the FLPs on. I think there is actually a lot less than 3 inches of space but I tried to give you guys the idea that it isnt a whole lot. I will get under there sometime and take a pic. It may be more like 1 in in some spots.

A picture would help but it shouldn't be so hard to fab up a heat shield that you could clamp to the oil filter.
