Oil Filler cap is a funny color...

...the color of pus. Yeah, it is disgusting. Let me give you some background info: i make less then ten minute trips twice a day seven hours apart (going to and from school). Just about everyday. SOme more every once in a while. I have this raw fuel smell when i pull the cap and when the change the oil.

i know i am running rich but on the scanner everything is fine? O2's cycle, maf grams move from 6-whatever, perfect. So what is causing that puss color. No coolant loss. No other problems. No misses (except idle surge at running more than about 30 mins or so).

Is this the sign of a coolant leak, or i am just taking too many short trips? IT is isnt full of the pus color stuff, just around the top of the cap.

Probably just condensation that has collected and didn't evaporate as steam due to the short trips. The motor needs to operate at it's operating temperature for a while in order to 'burn off' that moisture inside. Clean it, and drive that puppy some more.

But could a rich running car cause that ***** stuff? It isnt losing coolant either. I dont have the cash for this stupid car First it was intake leak, cost me 130 doing myself (i had to buy tools and gaskets) then idle surge, a crappy 13 mpg, had to get a scanner to why it surges ( i think it is IAT location, gets too hot) then this!

Anyone else who makes lots of short trips please look under your caps and see if you guys see this stuff? I am gonna die here
I dont even beat on this thing, it usually doesnt go above 2.5K rpm on a drive.

To be more specific on the color, it is a very light tan color, like an eggshell. Maybe i should be happy since i could do heads and cam? That would cost more cash though...........

your car most likely isn't getting warm enough to have the condensation fully evaporate.

drive it for an extended period of time like once a week, you'll be fine.
