Oil everywhere...
Oil everywhere...
Can anyone tell me what would cause oil to be fouling the spark plugs, while at the same time clogging the PCV? I'm not getting any blue smoke out, so I don't think it's burning oil at all, but I'd just like to know what gasket to replace or simply how to stop this from happening. Thanks.
I would think a leak down test would be better to check for blow-by. Also how many miles are on the car? May be time to replace valve stem seals You may better getting just enough oil to foul the plugs but its getting completely burned up. Do you see any blue smoke when you first start it up? This is usually a good sign of valve stems seals going bad.
I haven't done a compression test yet, and I don't exactly know what a leak-down test is. The car has ~113,000 miles, and the idea about just enough oil to foul makes sense, as plugs will last 3-4 months before they're too black to fire. There's no blue smoke at all, and the plugs do smell gassy, so I was thinking I'm also running a little rich.
Side note also, I've got an mild exhaust leak at the driver's side collector gasket, but only until it heats up basically. I can see exhaust flowing out until it gets warm...would this just be due to sweeling of the pipe when it gets hot?
