Oil cooler question
Oil cooler question
Ok so I have searched and I cannot find part numbers for the life of me! I wanted to delete my oil cooler the other day but decided to leave it in since I don't know if it is the good one or the one prone to clogging. Anyway the part number on mine is 10168415. Is this the good one or the one that is known to clog? The only reason I ask is because I have a 94 and it was the transition year so I got some of the newer LT1 stuff and some older stuff.
It's easy to tell. The early cooler hoses connect horizontally at the cooler. The later cooler hoses attach vertically. There should have been no transition with the cooler in 1994. Your part number indicates the early cooler.

When I got my car out of storage and got it running, my oil pressure fell off considerably within a couple minutes, and would just hover around 20 psi regardless of rpm's. I'm not sure whether there may have been some "sludge" in the system as a result of my car sitting idle for many years, or what. I had changed the oil and filter before starting it. Anyway, when I eventually removed my oil cooler, and installed a new filter, my oil pressure improved dramatically. I had the "good" cooler.
