Oil in the COOLANT?!

Yesterday, I noticed that my Camaro was flashing up the Low Coolant light as I drove to church. A week ago, it blew the top radiator hose sitting in traffic.

Checking the radiator, I found that oil had somehow become mixed with the coolant. How is this possible? Does the LT1 have an oil cooler, and could it have gone out?

My car has 118,000 miles, and has been meticulously maintained. Oil pressure gets a little low sometimes, but nothing major. No other problems, except for a little trouble starting (not wanting to catch sometimes) as of lately.

I'm at my wits end. My dad is a professional mechanic, and we've called GM dealerships, plus all of our mechanic friends in the area, and no one has any idea what's going on.

Any ideas? It's been a day, and I'm already missing her like crazy....btw, while it's down, I'm driving my '91 5.0. So please help me get the Maro back on the road.

It's possible, the car is a 6-speed, a T-56.

Right, that kind of ruled out tranny fluid. I also have heard of antifreeze in the oil, but never vice versa.

but you checked and there is no anti freeze in your oil right? make sure you oil is full also. did you possibly put more antifreeze in from some kind of bucket or something. i know if i have to take it out and its still good, ill dump it in a bucket that i use for everything. so you could have gotten oil in it if you did anything like that. just a thought

No antifreeze in the oil, and the oil is full. After the radiator hose blew, the antifreeze came from brand-new, sealed containers. The antifreeze was brand new when it went in.
