Oil?
Re: Oil?
I have an LT1 in a B-Body, and I use 4 quarts.
It's more than enough to keep the pickup covered in normal driving and in drag racing, and it gets the oil away from the crank more.
It also, oddly enough, actually registers as within the normal range on the dipstick.
BTW, I personally use 10w-40 Amsoil.
The reason for the 10, instead of 5, is because it's an older engine with about 140,000 miles on it, and 5w oil will allow the pressure to come down lower than I am comfortable with. You can DEFINITELY get away with less oil pressure when using synthetic, because of the different characteristics of the oil, but I still like to see at least 10lbs at idle, when hot.
