I tapped a sensor in the block By the oil pan and it fell off! It looks like a o2 sensor but it is not. and it has a heat shield over it can anybody tell me what that is. It is not the one in the pan its in the Block.

Where on the block was it? driver, passenger, front? It could have been your knock sensor but you have to be more specific as to where we are talking about.

If it had a heat shield sensor, then it is oil pressure sender (sensor). It is located on the block, just above the oil filter.

It might not be, the oil pressure sensor in my car is on the back on the intake not the block. I think he is talking about the knock sensor, just replace it and you should be fine.

I looked at a sight online and the knock sensor is by the starter and the oil presure sensor is correct and for all those who don't know the placement of the sensor varies from year to year. Just found that out. (there is about 3 different sensors areas)

I THINK that only the 93s have the oil pressure sender right above the oil filter.

Oil pressure sensor is by the oil filter on 93s only.. the rest are on top in the block right behind the intake. (not in the intake itself.. there is no oil flowing though the intake to take a reading from) Anyway, i'll bet you have a 93 and that's it. Get a new one don't try to glue it.

Trust him and trust me don't bother starting it. After about 30 seconds you will have oil everywhere. Once it start pumping out it will ALL come out!!!

dose your car have a factory oil cooler if not that it could be a reason or it might have been built early in the year who knows for sure but that is the only sensor that goes right above the oil filter

gm likes to get rid of stock on hand and there is some crossover
