so for the moment im running open headers because i cant afford a full exhaust, and oh dear god its loud
any suggestions on some cheap exhaust kits? or other cheap alternatives to the ear shattering sound?

 

Be careful... O2 sensors in open collectors can be exposed to a backwash of air, causing the engine to run very rich.

 

yeah i noticed, i filled up and im already down to 3/4 tank in 30 miles
and at idle it acts like its about to choke out
but i sure as **** fixed the lean condition! now it just dumps gas out the pipes
think i should for the time being mock up some autozone pipe with some clamps for drive-abilities sake?

 

For the sake of your sanity and others around you, your engine's well being and your gas budget, put an exhaust system on it.

 

any muffler shops open sunday? id like to get it quieted down since i just went to a car meet and i was probably 3rd loudest car behind a super rice honda and a powerstroke

 

posting under this thread because i think it might be related
the car when cold bogs and wont hold idle (have to double foot it) but once warm its fine
i noticed the little tube that comes off the intake elbow and goes down was putting tension on the water pump sensor harness
could i have fouled my o2's from running open headers, or am i looking at a stretched out terminal or broken wire in that harness?

 

forgot to add, pulled lean codes for both banks on a tech2 at idle but running around the codes never set

started it up with the maf unplugged so it'd default to its speed density tables and it ran like a dream

 

where are you located? I have a few different exhaust systems here in NY including an offroad Y pipe for long tube headers.

 

im in indiana, and i ordered an offroad y pipe from the same guys who make my headers so i ought to be good there, and i got a summit system for the plumbing buti'll probably change the muffler around to see what i like best
