Question offroad pipe, electric cutout?

I dug through the search for a while, and didn't find the answers I needed... so here I am.

I have new Hooker headers w/ a Y-pipe. I have 3" tubing running back into a Flowmaster. My question involves adding an electric cutout to the system.

Could I remove the cat, and put it in that location? Should I leave the cat? If I leave the cat, should I put the cutout before or after the cat? Maybe some combination of flowtech + offroad-pipe + cutout - cat = ??

I haven't test fitted any of the new components yet to see if any of these approaches would work (fit). The people I'm working with to do the work are welders and fabricators, so if they need to make something, it's not going to be an issue. Thanks for your help.

Fred

Since you didn't mention LT's I'm guessing they are the Hooker shorty headers. I have SLP single cat shorty headers with their y pipe and I have an Cutout/ORP (I cut down an ORP and had it welded to a cutout) that I swap in in place of the single cat. I had to have a three bolt flange welded to the end of the y and then the same on the front of the ORP and Cat. it's real easy to swap them back and forth that way. You really can't run an ORP before the cat in it's stock location, theres no room.

You are right in guessing that they're shortys. I'm also lowering the car, so I didn't want to mess with clearance issues.

Do you swap the two components out often, or for certain situations? I'm forseeing that I won't probably put the cat back in, unless absolutely necessary. I don't have to worry about emissions.

I had it made up so I could swap the cat back in for emmissions. I later I found I don't have to get emmissions done any longer so I just use the ORP all the time. If you don't have emmissions I would just weld the ORP up to the y.
