does anyone have any info on how to install struts on a 1999 jetta?

I have a good friend that is trying to do this and we can't find any info and need it asap.

There is a rubber washer like piece that is about 4" round with an insert of metal in it that he's not sure which way it's supposed to mount.

If anyone knows where we can find a walkthrough or something like it we'd sure appreciate it.

i'm not sure, but if i was in your spot I'd go to the store and buy the haynes or chiltons manual...

There should also be some VW boards around the net too....
