OEM shock life? cold weather weird noise?

Does any1 have a clue as to how long the average OEM shock lasts? 30k-60k-100k????

My Z is right at 100k and my shocks make a super strange noise like their is ice inside them and it only happens when I go over speed bumps when its real cold outside.

Whats up with that?

I have heard so many cars make creaky noises like that in the cold, that I consider it normal any more.

I heard the stockers should be about done at 40k. I replaced mine at 75k, but I didn't feel any difference in ride between new ones and old ones.

Mine creaks a little when it's really cold out also. It's normal.

78k here stock shocks, I think they are shot for the matter though, and the car drives very weird when you first take it out, suspension wise....

Rubber bushings become hard in the cold, thats prob whats making the noise... Plus, your cars always make creaking noises anyways...

I got 115,000 miles out of the OEM front shocks..... I went with the Edelbrock shock w/adj coil... Not bad for the price $177.00 ea at www.paceparts.com

My stock shocks did that as well during cold weather. Front and back. Started about two years ago at around 40,000 miles. I went ahead a drove that way up until a month ago when I replaced them. Nice cold weather here in Arkansas, but no creaks from the shocks anymore.

Now, whether my shocks were shot or just nosy, I don't know. But replaceing them took the sound away.

Weather affects the seals, and driving will effect the shock wear, but they are rated at 30k miles.

mine do the same thing when I go over speed bumps. I have had them do the same thing in my other vehicles when it gets cold. I'm with Shoebox, consider it normal.

I just wanted to add that my SLP take-offs with less than 200 miles have the same squeek sound over bumps.

If this seems to be as common as it sounds, i guess i will not order anymore.
