The OEM wires do a very good job, but considering the price similarities of both sets, might as well go with the MSDs. A set of red insulated wires will at least add some visual appeal to your engine bay.

Just a heads up that the MSD wires won't fit in the stock wire retainers; they're 8.5 mm. I've had excellent luck with the Accel 9000 wires and they're 8 mm so they can squeeze in the stock holders. They're around $70.

I had accel 9000's and they burned up in less than 2 months, i have OTVC looms and coated headers. Accel products are cheap stick with MSD.

I've got 50K+ miles on my Accel 9000 wires on a blown car with JBA coated headers. No signs of wire failure here.

Another good word for MSD. I ran mine in stock locations with LT's, no problems. Much better product than stockers.

LOL...if you burned a set of Accel 9000's, I assure you that they were installed improperly.

Re: oem or aftermarket spark plug wires

I run the 8.5 MSD superconductors in the stock wire retainers, I just had to carefully grind some of them in in some places in oder for the wires to fit, also I used LOTS of zip ties to make sure everything stayed in place and away from the headers.

Re: oem or aftermarket spark plug wires

On a relatively stock car, stock wires are fine. Unless you are pushing some serious voltage through the wires, they don't need to be super low resistance.

I also got the OTVC kit from elitesparkplugs.com. Saves a lot of headaches on install. The stock wire locations suck for wire replacement.

Thumbs up Re: oem or aftermarket spark plug wires

I had a set of Accel 9000's put on at about 80k miles, have 136k miles on it now. The OEM wires melted. The Accel wires seem to be holding up extremely well. I think I got them at Summit Racing.

Forgot to mention they re-routed the wiring b/c the Accel wires were thicker and would not fit where the OEM wires were. They also took into consideration heat and tried to route the wires away from the hottest spots.

Another vote for MSD's. You have to route them differently then stock but it isn't hard and they work awesome!
