odd start issue, may be alarm

my car has randomly done this since i've had it with increased frequency, the security light isnt on and doesnt turn on while trying to start,

i turn key to start, nothing happens, no click, no turn over, nothing.

when i turn key back it beeps, and then the fans turn on for about a second.

i can try again a second later, and it starts, but the other day it didnt. i tried rolling car incase the starter had a gap, or the flywheel was chipped. didnt help, neither did checking connections, or turning wheel back and forth, i called to get a ride and i tried it again in 5 minutes and it started right up.

and the car runs great, im still not sure what the symptoms of an opti spark going bad but even if it did, why would it beep and the fans turn on?

if it were a clutch sensor, or a starter, or a bad connection it wouldnt react with a beep, which leads me to a screwed up alarm, which i wasnt aware of

stumped, help

sounds like it may be ur alarm. I have similar issues with my 96. I bought it and didnt know it had an alarm till i locked it at academy. when i unlocked it i had 10 seconds to put the key in the ignition b4 the alarm went off. BTW my keys didnt come with a remote.

If you can disconnect ur alarm and see if that solves ur issue.

i dont know it is just an alarm sensor or a actual unit but part of my alarm is underneat the plastic wheel housing cover trim panel on the passenger side in the rear hatch.

here we are 4 months later . . . . my car wouldnt start when i went to ship my tax returns (******* i.r.s) anyway, i got it towed to an alarm place and the thousand dollar useless alarm is gone. everything is cohesive and good to go, and the signal to the starter is good.

apparently the starter isnt.

i popped started it and i got home, i know where the starter is but how many bolts is it and does anyone have a diagram of how to pull it? i've owned 4 gm's and never had to do a starter. little help
