Odd question... hard to describe

Lately, whenever I turn my car off, a few seconds after it has shut down it makes a squeaking noise coming from the front area of the car. Its not suspension I dont think. Its an intermittent squeak noise, kinda like a dripping sound (if that doest make sense, think of a dripping faucet, only its a squeak noise). It happens for a few seconds and then stops. No leaks under the car, bone dry. Is this possibly cooling system related? Like an air bubble in the system? Any ideas anybody?

I know this is really vague, but it just seems kinda weird. Let me know guys, thanks!

Re: Odd question... hard to describe

Perhaps it is one of the fans squeaking when it is winding down.

No i dont think that is it because it doesnt start making this noise until about 5-10 seconds AFTER i have shut the car down. I dont think any fans are moving that long after. Ill double check to make sure, but i am 99% positive that isnt it. Any other ideas?

could be one of the headers or some other hot metal shrinking back into normal position and grinding against metal. i know trucks that tick until they're cool again. i've seen cars do it too...but not as often.

Are the "squeeks" sounding off at a constant rate and pitch or does the rate/pitch slow down...
Sounds kinda like a fan like shoebox said. In that case the squeeks would happen a bit slower and slower until it stops. I mean, it couldn't be really much else... The engine and/or accessories sure as hell aren't moving...

Yeah, possibly the 1-way check valve for the brake booster is letting the built up air out and causing a squeaking sound.

Have someone shut it off while you are looking under the hood and see if you can't at least narrow it down to a specific area.

actually it would be letting air in. the vacuum brake booster and vacuum reservior hold vacuum after the engine is turned off. i would check the vacuum hoses around those two items.

Boy, what was I think. That didn't make sense at all. Thank you for correcting me.

Re: Odd question... hard to describe

i did just recently do the LS1 brake upgrade... so maybe it is something with that cuz this noise didnt start until after that was done. Where is that stuff all located? And if it is that, how do i go about fixing it?
