my GF overheated her car, and ever since it has picked up a miss. sounds like a cylinder or 2 is down. sort of like a burned wire.


I have 2 codes, 13 and 63 which are o2 left and o2 right faults, so I disabled the o2s(open loop only program). have also tried unplugging the MAF to take it out of the equation. nothing seems to help.

none of the wires are burned, and this all started after it over heated. I suspected a head gasket, but it is NOT using any coolant, and it is not getting hot. There is also no white smoke.

the sound is similar to fouled plugs, or a very rich condition.. its not a "pop" type miss.

any other ideas? I am putting new plugs in it right now.

 

Your headgasket may be blown, worst worst case scenario is your block is cracked which happend to me with the exact same symptoms as you

 

Hmmm, O2 codes eh? On a long shot here, but if it ran so hot, maybe it damaged or fouled one or both of the O2's somehow? It might be worth going to autozone, picking up some Bosch's and see if they help the problem. If they don't, return them.

I don't know how much that'd help since you disabled them with programming though.

no coolant loss tho. if the block was cracked, or the head gasket was munched.. the coolant would be exiting stage left.

Also, it didnt over heat badly. as soon as she noticed it was hot, she pulled over.

thats why I disabled the o2s, so they would no longer be in the equation. however, maybe the error code is causing a PCM fault or something

 

Have you been able to scan it.
I had a similar problem when my temp sensor broke.
Clue was the temp on the scan master registered -40 degrees.
This cause a super rich condition.

I doubt it that's it but I had very similar conditions minus the initial over heat.
