Smile OBDII to OBDI Question - Newbie

I bought a '97 Camaro LT1 motor to use on my latest project. I will not be putting the motor into a Chevy. I want to convert to OBDI, but need to know if I can just plug in a '94 - '95 PCM, or do I need to convert my current PCM to OBDI? Reasons?

contact www.pcmforless.com, bryan has the conversions ready to go. you have to use a modified obd1 ecm which plugs right into the stock harness. it's basically a plug and play..10 minute install. all the "hard work" is in the programming.

all lyou have to do is replace the knock sensor on the block to a obd1 knock sensor. (the engine baing a 97 should have a obd2 knock sensor.) and thats all you have to do.

all the pcm from brian is, is one with a resitor that accept the obd2 knock sensor.

Are there any reasons why one would'nt o OBDI?
Does OBDII actualy have any advantages?
What about a big stall, is this incompatible with OBDI?

From my understanding and what i have heard you can get more power out of a OBDI because it doesnt all the sensors OBDII does... but i am new to the PCMs so dont flame me

ok. you just buy the LT1 engine, ok?

did you get the complete VATS ?
O2 sensors?
transmission?

I think you must have the ODBI, Itīs easy for you to DOITYOURSELF program, to remove VATS, O2 sensors, Trans, And every little thing that will (4 shure) pop up on Ur Project...

there is a fix for the stall problem. but the real advantage is the programming if your going to do it your self the obd1 coversion is cheaper than the software to do the obd2. perforomace theres really know difference. and if you happen to live in a place where they plug in to the aldl to see if the pcm has been altered. and you have to do is plug the obd2 pcm back in, get it chaecked and take it back out. but to that you have to get a pcm with the resistor in it to compensate for the obd2 knock senor.

the pcm wil lignore everything extra that the obd2 car has exept the knock sensor. when you plug in the obd1 pcm its like they were never there. with the exception og the knock sensor.

When you get the OBDI and get it configured, tell the person that is doing it to turn stuff like emissions off so you wont have to worry about the 4 O2 sensors you have. Or any that the F-bodies have that you dont need.

you dont want to get the all 4 o2s turned off. you need the first two, you dont need to get anything changed at all except the resistor in the pcm to be added. it will ignore everything else that the obd2 pcm saw when it was in. now anyhting you want turned off like vats or emission stuff thats different. thats all stuff you want. that stuff doesnt need to be turn off for you to use the pcm.

yep, thatīs why Iīm asking if he buy the engine with all the stuff, cause, as he says, that engine is going to be on something that is not Chevy...

Iīm thinking Is anybody out there that sellīs a ODBII cable for just diagnostic? not the LT1_edit Us$600

if you get the ODBI and the cable, you can find what you didnīt plug the way it should be, find why those ligths wonīt turn off...

You can send your ODBII 4 programming, then you find you need to remove something, an send it back, and keep finding troubles, and finally ended trying to go Carb...

ok, I may be wrong on something (even write it on bad english) but I went through this Not long ago, and I ended with the ODBI

my $0.2
