obd2 connector on obd1??? it fit but...
ok well i went to auto zone to try and figure out my mysterious check engine light code that comes on occasionally... and we were trying to find the obd1 connector but he said that the obd2 should work because soem of them were obd2 compatable??!?! i was like ok, because i really dont know..
well the connector fit but the computer wouldnt link up? is this because my car just isnt obd2 and the connector might fit but it is different? or what?

Re: obd2 connector on obd1??? it fit but...
The 1995 LT1 f-body uses an OBD-II shaped connector, but an OBD-I computer. It requires a special cable when using a scanner. Autozone usually will not scan it, because they normally only scan OBD-II cars.
Re: obd2 connector on obd1??? it fit but...
No... you need to find a shop that has the converter that allows them to plug an OBD-I scanner into your OBD-II ALDL connector. Or you need to go to Shoebox's website and learn how to make the conversion yourself.
