OBD1 PCM on OBD2 z28

What would I need for this? Will it just plug straight in (the OBD1 PCM)? Or Should i just get a OBD2 PCM and get a OBD1 conversion done?

Just seems like OBD1 LT1 cars have many more tuning options....

and what about cost?

thanks!

To do this conversion, you need to get a OBD-I PCM from a 94-95 GM car (preferably a z28), and you also need to get a 94-95 style knock sensor. If you can find an OBD-I from a 94-95 z28 in a junk yard, and also get the knock sensor, you are all set. Without the knock sensor, the car runs like crap. With the OBD-I, tuning is easier and most importantly, cheaper. Good luck.

do you have to drain the coolant or anything before you swap the knock sensor?

You will drain coolant when you pull the knock sensor, since it take the place of the block coolant drain plug for the passenger side.

Are the only advantages of obd-II emission controls, what would be a good reason not to do it. I have been thinking about this....

Would the 1995 OBD II style connector work with a 1996 converted to OBD I ALDL connector?

yeah, you can go to pcmforless or madz28 and get a conversion pcm and just plug it in without having to change the knock sensor
